The Golan Heights is a beautiful mountainous region to the north of Israel, home to breathtaking nature reserves and world-famous archeological sites. Ancient Archeological Sites
Archeological highlights in the Golan Heights include the remains of a Chalcolithic era settlement dating back around 5000 years, and burial grounds which are believed to be over 4000 years old. An ancient Jewish city, a monastery and Byzantine church are other notable sites to take in during a visit here. The Golan is also much visited by pilgrims, since three of Jesus’ disciples are said to have originated from here, with several miracles believed to have taken place at various sites in the region.
